The OCA joined the Commission on Ministry in Specialized Settings (COMISS) Network in 2005 as a Religious Endorsing Body Representative.

International Congress for Pastoral Care and Counseling

The International Congress for Pastoral Care and Counseling was formed in 1979 in Edinburgh, Scotland. this is an international round table for pastoral care and counseling organizations. This body meets every four years, with the next congress being planned for 2011.

Association for Clinical Pastoral Education

The Association for Clinical Pastoral Care (ACPE) was founded in 1967 bringing together the Council for Clinical Training, the Institute for Pastoral Care, and several faith based bodies. This organization trains and credentials CPE Supervisors, and accredits training centers. Those who want to join ACPE as a Clinical Member may do so after completing four units of CPE. This is not a certification category, however.

College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy

The College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy began in 1990 and has in its covenant the focus on recovery of soul.

Association of Professional Chaplains

The Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) is a credentialing body for chaplains. This organization brought together the former College of Chaplains and Mental Health Clergy in 1998. A good number of our Orthodox chaplains are board certified by the APC.  They have a separate entity, the Board of Chaplaincy Certification, Inc (BCCI) that undertakes certification.

The International Conference of Police Chaplains

The International Conference of Police Chaplains (ICPC) offers training and support to those serving as police chaplains. This organization began in 1973, and besides offering training, holds international police chaplain gatherings.
